Avast VPN Review

The Avast VPN application is easy to use, simple to use and comes with several excellent security features. However, it’s missing certain essential features, such as a kill switch and split tunneling. It also lacks an Ad-blocker integrated. While it’s an excellent service overall however, there are other alternatives with better features for the price.

The Windows client comes with a nice user interface that is a familiar experience for anyone who’s utilized Avast’s anti-virus software. Its interface is simple and its hamburger menu at the top right navigates to “Settings.” The Windows application can connect automatically, or start a connection manually clicking the Change Location button. There’s the servers listed by region and function (P2P or streaming).

Security is a top priority with Avast VPN thanks to its 256-bit AES encryption and the fact that it blocks WebRTC leaks and DNS leaks. It also supports the highly secure OpenVPN protocol and has beta support for WireGuard, which lets you connect to areas that might otherwise block VPNs. It’s a great solution for those who have intermittent internet connections.

Avast’s privacy policies are more transparent than most and it doesn’t track your IP address from which you came or the websites you visit. However, it does keep track of the amount of data you upload and downloaded over your session.

Avast VPN provides a 7-day trial for free and does not require a credit card. You can then choose one three-year, two or three-year contracts for up to five devices at a time.
