Avast Antivirus Review

avast is among the top-rated security suites in the field. It’s a reliable desktop and mobile device security it scans for malware and comes with a range of additional features like an anti-theft system and software updater. It also has sandbox technology that scans unknown files in an isolated environment before running them on your device or computer to avoid infection.

The user interface of Avast is simple and clean. Its central dashboard displays all the tools the suite offers, with clearly marked icons for each. The menu bar and settings are also clearly labeled as well as any new issues appear in a message tab on the dashboard. Avast’s full scan has little impact on your system performance. The program also scores well in tests of protection against various types of malware including ransomware.

Avast, however, was in the news in late 2019 and early 2021 due to the fact that it collected and sold user data via a feature named Jumpshot. Thankfully Avast has since ended this practice and claims to not keep any information from users for marketing purposes.

Avast offers a variety of subscription plans for individuals and businesses. Its basic home plan protects up to 5 devices for free, while the paid options include more device coverage and extra features such as a password manager and an ad blocker. Avast’s business plans offer even more flexibility, and additional security features such as encryption of internet traffic, USB port monitoring to stop unauthorized storage devices from being removed and a virtual private network for secure browsing.
